A new expansion has been announced for the game Cities Skylines, and as always it will be accompanied by a free patch adding new features to the game even if you do not purchase the expansion. The expansion named Snowfall will bring an in-game weather system to the game accompanied by new challenges for you as the mayor.

The expansion will allow players to use new transportation methods such like trams, a transportation method much requested by the fans of the game. But it does not stop there, as the mayor you need to make sure your infrastructure can handle the different types of weather with new services like snowplows to keep your streets clean - and make sure the heating is functioning in the homes of your citizens. The heating itself can be electricity based, which requires more electricity during cold days, or water based for a more durable heating.
And of course, don't forget to go out for a walk in the snow and visit the new winter parks and landmarks your mayor plopped in your neighbourhood.

Cities Skylines Snowfall will be available for Windows, Mac and Linux. A release date still has to follow. Visit the forums of Paradox Interactive to stay up to date about the expansion and the regular developer diaries.
