Last week EA released their january patch for Star Wars Battlefront. Among smaller changes and bugfixes, the update also contains new features like private matches. The developers also release a sort of roadmap for new content, going all the way up to the year 2017, and including four digital expansion packs. While other changes will be accessable by all players, these packs will require a Season Pass.

Already part of the january patch are the private matches. These are supposed to enable players to meet specifically with their friends, a feature that the Community has been craving a lot. The patch also contains special Hoth outfits for Luke Skywalker and Han Solo and Tatooine Survival variants for Blast, Droid Run, Drop Zone, Hero Hunt and Heroes vs Villains. Also new are the Daily Challenges and Community Events, supposed to both bring the Community together and to give players the chance to earn a few extra credits. If you want to look at the patch and the smaller changes in some more detail, you can find the official patchnotes here.

But new content was also announced for the months to follow. In February players will get a new surival mission on Hoth and a "brandnew" Hoth map for the modes Walker Assault, Supremacy, Fighter Squadron andTurning Point. Also DICE plan to enable Turning Point on all maps that already support Walker Assault and Supremacy at this point. In March the game will then be updated with a new Endor map for the modes Walker Assault, Supremacy and Turning Point and another survival variant of Tatooine.

Also to be released in march is the first of the four above-mentioned expansions, called Outer Rim. It will feature two new maps. The first will feature a fight between Empire and Rebellion over Jabba's palace on Tatooine, while the latter will take place among the factories of Sollust. The second expansion will then take the action to the cloud city of Bespin. Perhaps most anticipated by the player base could be the third expansion: it will take place on the Death Star. Last but not least a fourth Digital Expansion was announced, however not details were revealed yet.
