Those of you who still remember early 2015 well enough may also remember that we introduced some large changes and a new platform back then, which for us was a great step forward. Now in 2016 we want to take another step forward and follow up on some things we've not been entirely happy with so far.
Most noticeably Blikege.net got a new look, including a new logo. But it's not only a visual redesign, we also used the opportunity to rearrange and improve the front page and the article system. With different games in focus at different times, it was important enough to have a larger variety of articles easily accessible from the front page. We've also improved upon the information about the author that you get with these articles in an effort to both further transparency and accommodate new authors, like ville, who recently joined our editorial staff.
But we haven't forgotten the rest of the site either and introduced a few functional improvements and new features. Most changes to the forums are minor in nature but are meant to make the forums more intuitive. Noteworthy on the list of new features are the "similar threads" now suggested by the board. Perhaps most noticeable among the functional improvements may be that thread lists now not only show the original thread starter (large circle/avatar), but also the most recent poster (medium sized circle/avatar in the bottom right) and if you yourself have posted in the thread (smaller circle in the top left). This change in particular is meant to address a concern brought up time and again and to combine what many of you are used to from other boards, with XenForo's native advantages.
Site-wide we have worked on improving the integration of Social Media into the different elements and areas of Blikege.net. A fluent integration is simply a must have - and even more so in 2016. So, by the way, are good documentation and help pages. To address the latter we have not only reworked and streamlined the Contact page, but also introduced a Help-center link in the new footer that we hope to fill with useful information, answers to re-occurring issues and tutorials.
Last but not least we have also improved upon our calendar (currently hidden under 'More' in the top menu bar). We're hoping to continue hosting community events and activities and increase their frequency, so make sure to drop by the calendar from time to time. And look out for further changes through 2016, there's certainly more coming to help us with organizing this community...
